Alex Fernandez had a strong outing at Kauffman Stadium as the Tampa Bay Devil
Rays beat the Kansas City Royals 4 to 0.

In the 2nd inning Tampa Bay scored 2 runs.  That early scoring was all that
Fernandez(1-0) needed.  Tampa Bay had only 6 hits for the afternoon.  

The losing pitcher was Mike Mussina(0-1).  Despite losing, he struckout 10
Tampa Bay batters in 7 and 1/3 innings.  'Fernandez just dominated us' losing
pitcher Mussina said.  'Hopefully we can get to him the next time around'
