Pedro Martinez tossed a fine 2 hitter as the New York (NL) Mets defeated the
Houston Astros by the score of 2 to 1 at Shea Stadium.

New York (NL) brought 1 run across the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Houston proved to be no trouble in the 9th.  

The victory went to Martinez(2-0) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Jamey
Wright(0-1) suffered the loss.  'I've been working on a few things in my
delivery, and I think I'm hitting a good groove.' Martinez said after the
game.  'I'm ready to start another game tomorrow!'
