The Houston Astros defeated the San Diego Padres by a score of 6 to 2 at
Qualcomm Stadium.

The game started off with Houston taking the lead in the first when they
scored 2 runs on 4 hits.  The key at-bat was by Manny Ramirez who silenced
the crowd when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 3rd of the
season).  Houston ended up with 12 hits for the game while San Diego had 2.

Russ Ortiz(1-0) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Johan
Santana was credited with his 1st save.  Jason Schmidt(0-1) ended up with the
loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings.
