Barry Zito(15-6) and Jeff Weaver(7-4) treated the Anaheim fans to a fine
pitching duel at Edison Int'l Field.  The Anaheim Angels eventually emerged
as victors over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by the score of 3 to 1.

Anaheim took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring one
runner.  Mike Lowell doubled.  Vance Wilson stepped up to the plate and he
was hit by a pitch.  Michael Young then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Cristian
Guzman was up next and he hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Tampa Bay
threatened in the 9th but Anaheim was able to put down the rally.  

Zito got help from Jose Mesa who earned his 26th save.  'It was a tough one to
lose' said Howard Brover 'We'll get them next time out.'
