Curt Schilling racked up an impressive total of 14 strikeouts as the Tampa Bay
Devil Rays topped the Houston Astros by a score of 6 to 3 at Enron
Field.

Schilling(1-0) had a strong outing.  He didn't give up much, just 9 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'.  Tampa Bay finished with 8
hits in the victory.  

The loss was charged to Wade Miller(0-1).  Schilling didn't realize how many
strikeouts he was racking up.  When told he had 14 he was obviously
surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had decent total, but I didn't
think I had K'd that many.  Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
